The Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science (PJAS) is a competition aimed to expand middle and high school students’ knowledge of the sciences, mathematics, and technology.   Participants design and conduct an experiment, analyze the results, and present their process and conclusions to a small group of judges.  Math and computer science projects have specialized procedures and criteria for judging.  Students are not in competition with one another for a single top award; rather they are evaluated on how well they succeed in fulfilling the PJAS criteria and awards are based on each student’s own merit.  Participation in PJAS looks great on a college application and presenters may be eligible to win scholarships at both the regional and state levels.
